Green half-marocco with gilded upper fore-edge and decorated endpapers (signed: Chatelin; made around 1900) Bibliotheque originale. Nr. 1 with the monogramm of the editor, one of 32 extra de luxe copies, here with the frontispiece in three different colours. It shows the infamous fortress that was used as a prison and bears the inscription: L'Enfer des vivants: la Bastille. - Very minor browning, only the white endpapers with some foxing, else clean inside. Armorial bookplate of Bela Graf Kalnoky (1839-1880) and inscription of his library in the castle at Prödlitz / Brodek in Moravia. Elegant signed binding.
